Trompe Loeil have released the Ka’u Beach Skybox f0r The Festival of Sin and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to blog about it. Be warned this skybox is mesh.

My weakness with houses (I own hundreds) is quality. No matter what the style, if its well done, I want it, and Ka’u is the epitome of quality. None of the photos in this blog post have been edited (aside from cropping) and the photos were taken WITHOUT shadows. In neutral windlight. This skybox is exactly how you see it. Fully baked. (melts).

The thing I love most about this skybox is the attention to detail. Everything has a shadow where it should be, even despite contrasting light sources (the mark of genuine baking). You can see it here at the top of the stairs (which is next to an open door onto one of the two balconies) and on the fire bowl which is in a pillar between two small stairways between a living space and a bedroom space.

Unlike anything I’ve seen before, (Cory) Edo has made the entire build a night time build. So alot of the light sourcing is very subtle. The night time theme gives off a sensation of privacy, of permenant night time when you can be naughty and sensual, very appropriate for the sin festival, but more than that it suits its theme (Vanity) because everything is immaculately done although the obvious choice (a mirror) is missing from the home, you can always add that in and I think I prefer it. It shows an example of how inspiration has deviated from the traditional and more obvious icons of the theme, its creative and luxurious. I bet we will see alot of that in the Vanity section.

This house has one bedroom pre set but you can make a second bedroom upstairs. You can afford to be creative because the entire furnished skybox is around 105 prims total. The designer has now updated the box with a version so that if you dont want the assigned furniture your not left with the shadow baked onto the ground where they were. Win!

This last picture shows some of the detailing that made me love this skybox, and why you will too, the light detail on the steps, the fade to black edges of the self contained skybox, not to mention the animations in the pool, bath, bed and sofa, which seats 14.

Overall this skybox is a sexy step into the world of sin in an unpredictable way – the best thing you can ask for from an event.
